Make-A-Wish contacted me 2 weeks before the 2009 Lakeshore and asked if a Make-A-Wish recipient could compete in the tournament. Emphatically I said yes and the next day Matt Snodgrass called me and came over for a practice round. We played 36 holes and he asked if he could continue to play without me. The next day he came over at 2pm and played the course with 3 balls by himself until 10pm under the lights. He loved golf and he loved the Lakeshore.
Being one of the leaders after the 1st round in 2009, I truly believed he might win the blue jacket. He played in both 2009 and 2010 Lakeshores.
Matt's Make-A-Wish was an 8 day trip to Edinburgh and St. Andrews, Scotland, where at the age of 13, he played the Old Course on July 4th, 2001.
Matt lost his battle with brain cancer on July 19th, 2011. Please visit: MattSnodgrass.org for some wisdom and teachings on Life.
